Seasonal foraging walk: Urban Foraging for Elderflower

The ultimate summer adventure

Have you ever wondered what hidden treasures grow right in your city? Many people living in urban areas feel disconnected from nature and think they need to travel far away to forests or nature reserves to experience it. But what if nature is already all around you?

Join this city foraging walk in the heart of Maastricht and discover how much edible nature is growing right in your local park. During this walk, we will focus on elderflower, a beautiful seasonal plant that can be used in delicious drinks and recipes.

You will learn how to identify elderflower, which parts of the plant you can safely use, and how to harvest it in a respectful and sustainable way. After the walk, you’ll also learn how to make your own elderflower syrup at home perfect for refreshing summer drinks like elderflower lemonade or even a homemade Hugo spritz (often cheaper and tastier than the ones on the terraces).

This walk is perfect if you:

  • Are curious about edible plants
  • Want to reconnect with nature in the city
  • Enjoy learning new skills outdoors
  • Would like to meet like-minded people

Come explore the hidden nature of the city and leave with new knowledge, new connections, and inspiration to see your surroundings differently!
